108 craftsmen Vistit the ZUKULA village

In March 2016, 108 Craftsmen members No. 001, 004, 008 and 009 went to one of China's most remote province Yunnan to do the field research for an old village Zukula. The village has an exotic name, and the most special thing about the village is, it's the origin place of coffee in China. Over 150 years ago, a French missionary planted a coffee tree beside the catholic church, and it was the very first coffee tree in China.
We took a plane, then train, then bus, and then on foot, totally traveled 2700 kilometres to get there. It took us two hours to drive from the nearest town to the village, and the road was winding through the mountains. It was hard to believe that the government of such a poverty stricken village with only a few hundreds resident should invest a hundred million yuan to build a road leading here, while people here were still struggling for a living. Children were in shabby and dirty clothes, but they had a luxurious primary school. After lunch, we went to the oldest coffee forest in China, where the oldest coffee tree was 150 years old.  However, people here never really got to know coffee; no one knew how to roast and preserve coffee. Actually, Starbucks and Nestle even buy coffee beans from nearby, where the coffee forest there were derived from that in this village. Our member No. 009, Mr Zhu, is experienced in coffee roasting and making; he told the villagers how to store and roast coffee. In addition, we were working on a marketing scheme for promoting their coffee. Of course we did not forget to visit that catholic church with a history of 150 years. It was desolate.
Before we leaving there, we gave some reading glasses to the seniors, as it is a high plateau with strong ultraviolet ray, and thus the cataract rate is high.  Also, we left many books for the children there. When we were about to leave, we saw an old man about 80 years old, almost crawling down the hill carrying faggot on his back, kindly refused our help with a smile, and staggered to the end of a little lane. We could see that his body was physically distorted. This was heart breaking...
